The History of Jwala Home

Jwala Home was started 1st September 1996 by our founder Mrs. Banumathi Appaji

With 2 differently abled children. Now we have around 50 intellectually challenged girls with us in our family. The girls in our home are from low socioeconomic families that are not able to give them the special care they need in most cases.

Our founder lived for the cause of uplifting and rehabilitating mentally challenged and socially underprivileged females in Indian society.

About Our Day

A day in life of Jwala girls

Each day at Jwala unfolds with the calming rhythm of yoga, promoting both mental and physical wellness for our residents. After yoga, the residents participate in communal bathing and enjoy a nutritious breakfast. This is followed by a revitalizing group walk in the local surroundings, offering a daily change in participants to encourage variety and inclusion.

Morning activities commence at ten o’clock, offering an exciting array of different endeavors each day. From beadwork, drawing, painting, and card making to engaging educational activities and rounds of animal bingo, there’s always something to stimulate the mind and creativity. Some of these captivating artworks are available for purchase, providing a means for Jwala to generate income.

Lunch is served at one o’clock, often made possible by the generous donations from kind-hearted supporters like you. Following lunch, a brief period of rest allows our residents to recharge before the afternoon activities begin.

The afternoon schedule is rich with an assortment of activities, including indoor games, sing-along sessions, storytelling, and rhymes. At three o’clock, physical exercise takes center stage, featuring ball games and lively dance lessons. After the exercise session, residents enjoy their second bath of the day and begin their evening relaxation, preparing for a restful night.

At Jwala, we believe in the healing power of a structured routine, a variety of stimulating activities, and the support of our compassionate community, all aimed at nurturing the wellbeing of our residents
